Manuel Vieira Pinto

Manuel Vieira Pinto ( born December 8, 1923 in São Pedro de Aboim ) is retired Archbishop of Nampula.

Life

Manuel Vieira Pinto received on 7 August 1949, the ordination.

Pope Paul VI. appointed him on 21 April 1967 Bishop of Nampula. The Apostolic Nuncio to Portugal Maximilien Cardinal de Furstenberg ordained him on June 29th of the same year the bishop; Co-consecrators were Florentino de Andrade e Silva, Auxiliary Bishop of Porto, and Manuel Marilla Ferreira da Silva, Auxiliary Bishop of Goa and Daman.

On June 4, 1984, he was appointed archbishop and on 12 December 1992 as Apostolic Administrator of Pemba. From this office he resigned on 18 January 1998. On 16 November 2000, Pope John Paul II accepted his resignation age-related.
