Marc Laho

Marc Laho ( born January 15, 1965 in Seraing, Belgium) is a Belgian tenor.

Biography

He studied at the Royal Conservatory of Liège ( Conservatoire Royal de Liège), where he graduated with the Premier Prix in the subjects trumpet and vocals. In September 1987 he won the Prix de la vocation in the singing competition of Verviers ( Concours de Chant de Verviers ). This prize enabled him to continue his studies in Italy with Luigi Alva and in France by Alain Vanzo.

In 1989 he made ​​his debut at the Opéra de Monte- Carlo in the role of the officer in Thérèse of Jules Massenet and was following it engaged for two years there. In 1992 he was a finalist in the Luciano Pavarotti Competition in Philadelphia -.

He sang Gérald in Lakmé at the side of Natalie Dessay in Avignon, Paris in La Belle Hélène in Zurich under the direction of Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Le Comte Ory, among others, at the Glyndebourne Festival and the London Proms and Elvino in La Sonnambula at the Opéra Comique and the Vienna State Opera.

In 2008, he embodied his first Hoffmann at the Grand Théâtre de Genève, directed by Olivier Py and confirmed its interpretation, directed by Nicolas Joel at the Teatro Regio in Turin. He was also heard in the Requiem of Hector Berlioz at the Festival of Saint- Denis under the baton of Sir Colin Davis and the Théâtre des Champs- Élysées in Lélio of Berlioz, conducted by Riccardo Muti.

In recent years he has appeared in The Tales of Hoffmann at Národní Divadlo in Prague, L' attaque du moulin in Bern, Die Fledermaus in Montpellier, La Rondine in Toulon, La Sonnambula in Bonn, as Le Comte Ory in Marseille and Le duc d' Albe experience in Antwerp and Ghent.

At the beginning of the season 2012/2013 he sang the title role of César Franck's Stradella, a world premiere for the reopening of the Royal Opera de la Wallonie in Liège. In February 2013 Marc Laho guested as Fernand in Donizetti's La Favorite at the Théâtre des Champs- Élysées.
