Marcel Wanders
Marcel Wanders ( born 1963 in Boxtel / The Netherlands) is a Dutch designer.
Life
Marcel Wanders was born in Boxtel in 1963 south of Amsterdam. Born in the Netherlands studied in Maastricht and Hasselt in Belgium and graduated in 1988 at the Art Academy in Arnhem from. He then worked four years as a freelance designer. Wanders in 1992 became a partner of Waac 's Design & Consults in Rotterdam. In 1995 he founded his own design office " Wanders Wonders ." 2001, the designer came from a part of his office, from which the now very well known company Moooi arose. " Wanders Wonders " is an independent group of companies in the field of product design. Here Wanders designs till date for well-known companies, such as British Airways, Boffi, Cappellini, Droog Design, Flos SpA, Cassina, Magis and Moooi.
Works
1996 Wanders designed one of his most popular products, the " Knotted Chair ". This chair gave the designer a breakthrough in the international design industry. Another design which is distinguished designer table lamp " orchestra ". The special feature of this lamp is that it can be turned on or off by blowing. Wanders ' works are on display in various museums. These include the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
2000 Marcel Wanders co-founded the design brand Moooi as an art director and design of the company coined strong.
2008 Marcel Wanders designed the entire interior of the hotel Kameha Grand Bonn. Wanders accented with neo-baroque detail amorous interior design, the uniqueness of the Life & Style Hotels on Bonner Bogen. A special highlight are the he created themed suites that are responsive to the individual needs and wishes of the guests - whether " workaholic Suite" with all the features and amenities of a modern office or the " Play Hard suites " with a putting green, Pinball Machine and Wii console. Was opened, designed by Wanders hotel in November 2009.
Awards
Wanders won numerous awards for its products. For example, he won the " Knotted Chair ," the Rotterdam Design Prize (public prize ). 2000 received Wanders the " Old Point Design Award". Wanders in 2001 was nominated in the category " Designer of the Year ".
2010 Got Wanders next to the architect Karl -Heinz Schommer the MIPIM Award in the category of hotels and tourist resorts for the interior of the Kameha Grand Bonn.
