Marcelino García Toral

Marcelino García Toral ( born August 14, 1965 in Careñes ) is a former Spanish footballer and current coach.

Playing career

As a player, Marcelino comes to 74 top-flight missions for his youth club Sporting Gijon. He scored two goals. His first game in the Primera División of Asturias played in the 1-1 draw away to Celta Vigo on 22 December 1985., He had less luck with his last two stations. Depending on a season spent Marcelinho at Racing Santander and Levante UD in the Segunda División, but both times got in the Segunda División B.

Coaching career

The beginnings

As a coach Marcelino began his career in professional football with his former club Sporting Gijón in the Spanish Segunda División. In his first season he failed just wide of the climb. In the 2004/05 season, the team could not confirm this benefit: Sporting wound up a ninth place in the table. In the summer of 2005 left Marcelino Sporting to hire at Recreativo Huelva. As Table First he went straight to his inaugural season with the Andalusians. Also in Spain's top flight he could be put to the proof. With the launch of a relegation history, the club he reached the eighth place in the table.

The last years

After two years at " Recre " to Marcelino decided in the summer of 2007 for the offer of Racing Santander, he surprisingly first time resulted in the UEFA Cup. After only one year, he left the Cantabrians in the summer of 2008 and again signed for financially strong relegated Real Zaragoza. Already there he succeeded in the 2008 /09 season, the desired re-emergence. In December 2009, the club broke away from him and replaced him with José Aurelio Gay. In February 2011 he returned to Racing Santander back, but remained only until the end of the 2010/11 season and then hired at FC Sevilla. There he was released based on average results in February 2012. In January 2013 he signed a contract with the second division side Villarreal and rose with the club at the end of the season in the Primera División.
