Marco Bellocchio

Marco Bellocchio ( born November 9, 1939 in Bobbio, Piacenza ) is an Italian film director and screenwriter.

Life

Bellocchio moved after visiting the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in 1959 to London to study at the Slade School of Fine Arts on. The first directorial work, he took over in the mid-1960s. He directed a portion of the episodic film Love and Anger (1969 ), the other parts turned Bernardo Bertolucci, Jean -Luc Godard, Carlo Lizzani and Pier Paolo Pasolini. For this work, 1969, he was nominated for the Golden Bear.

The movie Devil in the Flesh (1986 ) Maruschka Detmers with, for which he also wrote the screenplay, was because of the liberal love scenes for Europe-wide scandal. For the director of the film The conviction he won the Silver Bear at the Berlinale in 1991 and was nominated for the Golden Bear. For the film The Prince of Homburg ( 1997), he was for the Palme d'Or nominated the price of the Festival Internacional de Cinema de Catalunya and the Chicago International Film Festival Award. For the film Ora di religione (2002) he was nominated for the Palme d'Or and won a special prize at the International Film Festival of Cannes. 2007 Bellocchio was appointed to the jury of the 60th Cannes Film Festival. Two years later, he received an invitation to compete in the 62nd Cannes Film Festival for Vincere. In the movie he takes on the fate of an undisclosed son of Benito Mussolini.

Bellocchio is one of the antikonformistischsten Italian directors, who reacted with courage, determination and precision his ideas into a film language that are both brought home to the public in contemporary political issues as such human relationships. At the 68th International Film Festival in Venice in 2011 he was awarded awarded the honorary prize for his life's work. A year later he was invited for Bella Addormentata for the third time in the competition of the Italian film festivals. The drama is an ensemble film with, among others, Toni Servillo, Isabelle Huppert and Alba Rohrwacher, which is located against the backdrop of the death of the Italian coma patient Eluana Englaro ( 1970-2009 ).
