Maria Solheim

Maria Solheim [ su ː lhæi̯m ] ( born January 19, 1982 in Øksnes ) is a Norwegian musician. She sings and plays acoustic guitar.

Curriculum vitae

Growing up is Maria Solheim in the 3000 - inhabitant village Øksnes in Vesterålen in northern Norway. At twelve, she began to write poetry, with 14 she tried for the first time on the guitar and a year later the first song lyrics. In summer 1997 she was discovered by Erik Hillestad, label boss of Kirkelig Kulturverksted, who asked her right away for two days a studio. This was followed by 17 years, the first recording contract and his debut album Barefoot, which was produced by Kari Bremnes ' pianist Bengt Egil Hanssen and Norway brought a big success with it. Gigs opening for Suzanne Vega and a tour of Germany.

The second album Behind Closed Doors was also released in Japan. A tour followed there. In the years that led to publications and performances in several countries. After she retired for a few years in private and started a family. During this time, the single Rome for her first song appeared all, a duet with Hans -Erik Husby Dyvik, simultaneously with a Norwegian text. She was awarded double platinum in Norway.

In 2012 she took up her career again and signed a record deal with BMG Chrysalis, the market their first album, released only in Norway In The Deep since 2014 internationally.
