Marian Gołębiewski

Marian Gołębiewski ( born September 22, 1937 in Trzebuchów, powiat Kolski, Poland) is a retired Archbishop of Breslau.

Life

After high school, studied philosophy and Catholic Marian Gołębiewski theology at the seminary in Wloclawek. On 24 June 1962 he was ordained a priest and was then chaplain in Ślesin and then in Zduńska Wola. From 1966 he studied at the Catholic University of Lublin in 1969 and earned a licentiate in theology. The subsequent studies at the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome, he graduated with a degree in Biblical Studies. Pope John Paul II awarded him on 1 December 1994 the honorary title of Chaplain of His Holiness ( Monsignor ).

In 1975 he was awarded his doctorate in theology and became a teacher at the seminary in Wloclawek, the rain, he was from 1983 to 1992. From 1992 to 1993 he was a Fellow at the Catholic Institute in Paris and his habilitation in 1994 at the Catholic Theological Academy in Warsaw, where he was appointed professor of Sacred Scripture.

On July 20, 1996, Pope John Paul II appointed Bishop of Koszalin - Kolobrzeg. The episcopal ordination took place on 31 August of the same year by the Apostolic Nuncio to Poland, Józef Kowalczyk.

On 3 April 2004 he was appointed as the successor of Cardinal Henryk Roman Gulbinowicz Archbishop of Breslau.

Marian Gołębiewski is a member of the Pontifical Council for the Pastoral Care of Migrants and Itinerant People.

In the Polish Episcopal Conference, he is a member of the Section of Biblical Studies in the Commission of the Doctrine of the Faith.

In 2011, the Catholic German Student Association Winfridia Wroclaw Cathedral appointed him ( KDSt.V. ) in the CV for the protector originally from Wroclaw fraternity.

On May 18, 2013 Pope Francis accepted the Marian Gołębiewski put forward reasons of age resignation.
