Marianna Laba

Marianna Mykolaivna Laba (Ukrainian Маріанна Миколаївна Лаба ) ( born September 7, 1968 in Serebrjanyje Prudy, Moscow Oblast, Soviet Union) is a Ukrainian soprano. She is a solo singer with the Lviv Philharmonic and the Lemberger house of organ and chamber music. Laba is People's Artist of Ukraine.

Curriculum vitae

She comes from a family of professional musicians. Marianna's father, who comes from the Chernivtsi Oblast, worked as director of a music school. Her mother, who comes from Hungary, sang in the choir, which her ​​father directed. Later, the family moved back to Ukraine to into the Transcarpathian city Chust.

At the age of four years, Marianna began to make music, learned violin and piano playing. From 1983 to 1987 she studied at the State Music School in the class Uzhgoroder for Violin and completed the diploma as an orchestral musician and music teacher with honors. From 1987 to 1995 she studied at the Lviv Lysenko Music Academy in the class of opera and chamber Sang. Since 1996 she has been soloist with the Lviv Philharmonic, and since 2002 also in Lviv House of Organ and Chamber Music.

She lives and works in Lviv and has a son.

Musical Career

During the course of her studies she gave guest performances as soloist with the ensembles " Krynytsja " and " Excelsior " in Austria, Germany, and Canada.

When she was still a student of the Lviv Philharmonic, she took from 1992 to 1994 at the " Bayreuth Youth Festival meeting " in Bayreuth in part, in 1998 she was at the festival " Chamber Opera Göttingen" ( Germany ) involved.

She represented Ukraine at numerous festivals in Poland, Austria, Germany, Czech Republic, Hungary, France, Portugal, and Belarus.

In 2006 she took part in a large tour with the symphony orchestra "K & K Philharmoniker " through various countries in Europe. 2008 and 2009 they undertook a guest travel with the Academic Symphony Orchestra of Lviv Philharmonic under the direction of Aydar Toribaev with the program " Gala bouquet ".

Lab is also a soloist with the ensemble of ancient music " Lwiws'ki Menestreli " ( " Lviv Menestrels ").
