Mariano Crociata

Mariano Crociata ( born March 16, 1953 in Castelvetrano, Trapani, Italy) is a bishop of Latina - Terracina - Sezze - Priverno.

Life

Mariano Crociata studied at the Episcopal Seminary of Mazara del Vallo. At the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, he received his doctorate in Catholic theology. The priests ordained Mariano Crociata on June 29, 1979. From 1985 to 1989 he was pastor in Marinella di Selinunte, 1989-2003 Archpriest of the Chiesa Madre of Marsala. In 2003 he became vicar general of the diocese of Mazara del Vallo.

On 16 July 2007 Mariano Crociata was by Pope Benedict XVI. appointed bishop of Noto. The episcopal ordination on October 6, 2007 in the Cathedral of Noto gave him the Archbishop of Palermo, Paolo Romeo; Co-consecrators were Archbishop Nikola Eterović, Secretary General of the Synod of Bishops, and Domenico Mogavero, Bishop of Mazara del Vallo.

In the Sicilian bishops' conference was Mariano Crociata Delegate for doctrine and catechesis.

On 25 September 2008 Pope Benedict XVI appointed him. Secretary General of the Italian Episcopal Conference, after Mariano Crociata resigned as Bishop of Noto.

Pope Francis appointed him on November 19, 2013 Bishop of Latina - Terracina - Sezze - Priverno. The inauguration took place on 15 December of the same year.
