Marie-Céline de la Présentation

Maria Caelina from the presentation OSCI ( née: Jeanne Germaine Castang ) (* May 23, 1878 in Nojals -et- Clotte, Dordogne, † May 30 1897 in Talence ) was a French nun. She is worshiped in the Roman Catholic Church as Blessed.

Life

Jeanne Germaine Castang came from an impoverished family. At age four, she contracted polio. Nevertheless, she nursed her brother suffering from tuberculosis and went to beg. She was admitted to a boarding school of the Nazareth Sisters. There, she felt drawn to the religious life. After the mother and the brother's death, she joined the Poor Clares one on November 21, 1896, she was dressed and took the religious name Maria Caelina of the representation. Soon, however, the novice became ill with tuberculosis. After dropping in articulo mortis solemn profession on her deathbed she died at age 19 on May 30, 1897.

Maria Caelina from the presentation was beatified in Bordeaux on 16 September 2007. Your Memorial Day in the liturgy is May 30
