Marino Marini (musician)

Marino Marini ( born May 11, 1924 in Seggiano; † 20 March 1997) was an Italian pop musician, known for his quartet from the 1950s and 1960s.

Life

Marini came from a musical family, studied briefly as an electrician (which it later as a musician very zugutekam ) and then piano, violin and composition at the Rossini Conservatory in Bologna. After his military service, he became musical director of the 1947 urban music hall in Naples, whose music, especially Neapolitan song, influenced him greatly. In 1948 he attended a half a year, the United States, where he earned the crossing as a pianist on a Polish ship on which he met jazz musicians such as Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Ventura and Stan Kenton. After his return he composed music for film and theater revues and played piano in cabarets in Rome and Naples. 1955 to 1960 he had his own quartet with him on piano and vocals, Tony Toto Savio on guitar, Sergio Bruni drums and Ruggero Cori on bass and vocals, has been very successful with pop. In 1955 he had his first shots and in 1956 was on Italian television. They had hits like Guaglione, Don Ciccio o ' piscatore, Vacilon, La Panse and Maruzella. In 1959, she also took up the Criminal Tango. With his quartet he has toured the world to Japan, Eastern Europe and the U.S. and especially in Paris and Poland had great success.

In 1960 he gave up his first quartet and founded in 1961 with a new Guarnera Bruno on guitar, Pepito di Pace on drums, Vittorio Benvenuti on bass ( and vocals). Even with this quartet, he went on tour around the world. In 1963 he formed his quartet again by Francesco Ventura on guitar, on drums and Sergio Franco Cesarico on bass guitar and vocals. The quartet played together until 1966, after which Marini turned to composition.

He accompanied, among others, Dalida and Caterina Valente.
