Mario de Marco

Mario de Marco ( born October 18, 1965) is a Maltese politician of the Nationalist Party. He was briefly a member of the European Parliament ( MEP ) and is currently Parliamentary Under Secretary of State.

Biography

Mario de Marco is the son of longtime minister and former President of Malta Guido de Marco. After his school education at St. Aloysius ' College in Birkirkara, he graduated in law at the University of Malta where he graduated in 1988 with the Doctor of Laws ( LLD). Then he was able to complete by a grant from the Commonwealth Scholarship postgraduate studies at Trinity Hall Cambridge University, where he graduated with a Master of Laws ( LL.M.) in International Trade Law. Thereafter, he was appointed Lecturer in International Commercial Law at the University of Malta.

In the parliamentary elections in 2003, he was first elected a deputy of the House of Representatives. Following this, he was Deputy Chairman of Committees and a member of the committees for audit and for Foreign and European Affairs.

From 1 May to 19 July 2004, he was also after the accession of Malta to the European Union ( EU) Member of the European Parliament ( MEP ), was once a representative of the Group of the European People's Party ( Christian Democrats) and European Democrats on the Budget Committee.

In 2008 he was re-elected as Member of Parliament and is still representative of the constituency 1 After the narrow victory of Partit Nazzjonalista in the parliamentary elections in Malta in 2008 he was appointed by Prime Minister Gonzi to Parliamentary Secretary for Tourism in the Department of the Taoiseach and thus belongs to the extended Cabinet.
