Maritta Bauerschmidt

Maritta Bauer Schmidt ( born March 23, 1950 in Waldheim, after marriage Maritta gritty ) is a former German gymnast devices, in 1968 won an Olympic bronze medal.

Career

Maritta Bauer Schmidt was able to place in the top three to four times at DDR -Turn championships. In 1967, she was third on the balance beam, 1968 Second; on the ground, she was runner-up in 1969 and 1970, a third party. In 1968, she was part of the GDR team at the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico. Maritta Bauer Schmidt, Karin Janz, Marianne Noack, Magdalena Schmidt, Ute Strong and Erika Zuchold occupied in the team standings to third place behind the squads from the Soviet Union and Czechoslovakia. In the individual competition Maritta Bauer Schmidt finished in twelfth place in the all around and was third best gymnast of the GDR.

In 1970, she moved to rhythmic gymnastics and became in 1971 Vice-Champion of the GDR. A trained chemist studied at the DHfK and belonged to the group of sports advertising DTSB. As a sports teacher, she worked first in Budapest, then in Berlin- Lichtenberg. After the turn she was employed in a youth project.
