Marjorie Bennett

Marjorie Bennett ( born January 15, 1896 in York, Western Australia, † 14 June 1982 in Hollywood, Los Angeles, United States) was an Australian actress.

Life

Bennet grew up as the younger sister of the silent film actress Enid Bennett and stood next to this 1917 in The Girl, Glory for the first time on camera. The following year, she starred in three other silent films, but what they initially retired from the film business. In 1946, she returned with a minor role in the Basil Rathbone Sherlock Holmes film back hunting on game boxes on the screen and had the following year in Charles Chaplin's Oscar -nominated feature film Monsieur Verdoux - The Strangler Paris a minor role. Because of her appearance, she was set to roles of housekeeper, the maid and later the worthy old lady, as such, she joined the musical films Mary Poppins and My Fair Lady in some Abbott and Costello comedies, in Billy Wilder's Sabrina and on. Larger roles she had, among others, in Robert Aldrich's drama What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? and in the Don Siegel movies Coogan's Bluff and The great big coup. However, in a large number of their numerous feature films she remained unnamed in the credits. In the Disney animated film 101 Dalmatians she had a speaking role.

In addition to her film career Bennet was seen in many TV productions. Between 1954 and 1957 she played the recurring guest role of Birdie Brockway in Lassie, she appeared in guest roles, among others, in 77 Sunset Strip, Mission: Impossible and Kojak take over - use in Manhattan.
