Mark Kerr (fighter)

Mark Kerr ( born December 21, 1968 in Toledo, Ohio) is an American professional wrestler and mixed martial arts fighter.

Career

Mark Kerr began at the age of 15 years at the high school with the rings. In his high school days he was twice Junior Champion of Ohio in free style. He also was a member of the wrestling clubs Toledo Waits and later the Foxcatcher wrestling clubs. He was trained there by Ed Carlin.

After high school, he attended Syracuse University and in 1992 was American students master (NCAA Champion ) in free style at light heavyweight. In 1994 he was also American champion in freestyle wrestling in the heavyweight division. At the international wrestling mat the greatest successes of Mark Kerr was his second place finish at the Goodwill Games in 1994 in the heavyweight behind David Musulbes from Russia and before Alexei Netchipurenko from Ukraine and the 2nd place at the Pan American Games in 1995 in Mar del Plata heavyweight behind Wilfredo Morales Suarez from Cuba and before Gavin Carrow from Canada.

In 1994 he also took part in the World Championship in Istanbul. He came here in free style in the heavyweight division only on the 11th Place.

1996, tried to qualify Mark Kerr for the Olympic Games in Atlanta. He failed at the U.S. Olympic excretion ( Trials ) but Kurt Angle, the 1996 Olympic champion.

1997 Mark Kerr stepped over to the camp of mixed martial arts fighters.

In 2002, he starred in John Hyams sports documentary The Smashing Machine with. He embodies the film itself
