Mark Manders
Mark Manders ( b. 1968 in Volkel ) is a Dutch artist.
Work
His priorities are installations, sculptures, drawings and short films. Typical of many works of Manders are artificial, imaginary spaces, which he describes as part of his self-portraits. He also uses arrays of objects, for example, arm bones, sugar piece, cup, dead animals, chimneys, walls, tables, chairs and floor lamp -like structures. In various installations rough, coarse clay human and animal sculptures fall on.
In addition, Mark Manders published together with the graphic designer Roger Willems in Amsterdam Art writings under the name: Roma Publications.
Since 1986, the sculptor Manders working on his work from sculptures and drawings he presents under the topic Self-Portrait as a Building. So he makes the attempt of his work, present its own existence and its real and imaginary biography in spaces and installations and stories, thoughts building ( with architectural plans) to tell in many variations, but which allow the viewer to different interpretations.
International attention was Mark Manders in particular at the 2001 Venice Biennale, Documenta 11 in Kassel in 2002 and 2008 at the Carnegie International in Pittsburgh.
He lives in Ronse, Belgium Arnhem, Netherlands.

Mark Manders has been involved in over 100 group exhibitions, such as in 1992 in Amsterdam and Arnhem in 1993, in Germany, Switzerland and Austria: 1997 in Berlin, 1999 in Bonn and in Hann. Munden, 2002 Documenta 11 in Kassel, Germany, 2004 Munich and Vienna, 2005 in Dusseldorf, 2006 in Berlin and Munich, 2007 in Wiesbaden and Zurich, in 2008 at the Kunsthalle Kiel, and in Zurich and Basel.
Manders had 30 solo exhibitions, starting in 1990 in Amsterdam, 1995 in Bern, 1998 in Baden -Baden, 1999 in Berne, 2003 Munich, 2007 at the Kunstverein Hannover, 2009 at the Kunsthaus Zurich.
