Mark Stone (ice hockey)

Mark Stone ( born May 13, 1992 Winnipeg, Manitoba ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who is since September 2011 when the Ottawa Senators of the National Hockey League under contract and since the summer of 2008 Brandon Wheat Kings of the Western Hockey League on the playing position of right winger. Stone is considered by his playing style as a power forward. His older brother, Michael, is also a professional hockey player.

Career

Stone first played until 2008 in his hometown at the Winnipeg Thrashers, a Midget AAA team of the Manitoba Midget Hockey League. In his last season for the Thrashers, he scored in 56 games 40 points scorer and participated with the team at the Telus Cup.

Stone then moved in summer 2008 to the Brandon Wheat Kings of the Western Hockey League. There he came in his first season in 56 games on 39 points, including 17 goals were located. The Scorer rating of all the rookies WHL concluded the striker onto the shared twelfth grade. In the play-offs of the year 2009, he had four more points followed in twelve games. The season 2009/10 started with the fact that Stone was out in the entire Relevant talent lists for the NHL Entry Draft 2010 among the top 50 players. Due to a concussion and an injury to the thumb, the attacker played only 39 games in the regular season in which he posted 28 points. In the play-offs Stone finally completed 15 games. He also participated with the Wheat Kings at the Memorial Cup in 2010, as the team had been chosen before the season as host of the traditional cups. In the semifinals, Brandon failed there to the Calgary Hitmen, where Stone's two years older brother Michael played as a defender. Mark Stone was able to record any points scorer in five tournament games.

During the summer break, the right winger in the NHL Entry Draft 2010 was selected in the sixth round at 178th position from the Ottawa Senators. In September, at the training camp, he took part of the franchise of the National Hockey League, but was released early return to the Brandon Wheat Kings. In his third WHL season, Stone was improved significantly and with 106 points scorer best scorer of his team and shared the third-best of the entire WHL along with Ryan Nugent -Hopkins and behind Linden Vey and Tyler Johnson. With 69 assists, he was also in these statistics on the third rank of the Western Hockey League. His performance earned him the end of the season call to the First All - Star Team WHL Eastern Conference. The play-offs concluded the winger off with ten other points from six games after Brandon was eliminated in the first round.

In September 2011, Stone took part for the second time in the training camp of the Ottawa Senators. Although he was sent again early in the Western Hockey League, he signed with the NHL team an entry contract with a term of three years. Back at the Wheat Kings where he became the team captain in his fourth year.

Internationally

Stone represented his native country for the first time at the U20 World Youth Championship 2012, held in the Canadian cities of Calgary and Edmonton. After a semi-final loss against Russia and a win against Finland in the match for third place, the Canadians won the bronze medal. With ten points, including seven goals, Stone graduated from the tournament as the best scorer and scorer of the maple leaves. Among the scorers of the tournament he was fourth and second among the scorers. The plus / minus statistics he cited with a value of 10.
