Markowa

Markova ( German Markhofgasse ) is a village in the powiat Łańcucki in the Subcarpathian Voivodeship, Poland. It is also the seat of the municipality of the same country.

Geography

Markova is situated in a west- east running trough which of the westernmost village, Markova, springing creek has incised with names Markowka in the fertile, deforested, 200-300 m high Lößland. In the direction of its course to the east to Mleczka still close to three more, but smaller villages Ostrow, Mikulice, Wolica so that the Markówkatal is met by a 14 km long, consisting of six villages, contiguous settlement chain.

The district covers a total area of Markova 2937 acres ( 2854 ha land). Owing to this extraordinary extent an indication of very early emergence of colonial type is given ( Forest German ), as they are found throughout the Carpathian Mountains and also in Silesia.

History

Markova is mentioned for the first time in 1384 as Markenhof writing.

From 1975 to 1998, the village belonged to the province of Rzeszów.

The municipality has a surface area of 68.46 km ². 71 % of its territory is used for agriculture, 22 % is covered by forest.
