Markus Windisch
Markus Windisch ( born May 12, 1984 in Bruneck ) is an Italian biathlete.
Markus Windisch began in 1996 with the sport of biathlon, his brother Dominik Windisch is active biathlete .. The Upper Rasener sports soldier from the CS Esercito is coached by Paolo Riva. Since 2001 he is part of the Italian national squad. This year he made his debut in the European Cup and was 28th in the sprint. The following year he took part in the same place at the Junior World Championships. Here he was eleventh in the individual, fifth in the sprint, eighth in the pursuit and seventh in the relay. In the season 2002/ 03 he celebrated first major success in the European Cup. In Forni Avoltri he won the sprint and then finished fourth in the pursuit. Also at the Junior World Championships of the season in Kościelisko went again with good results. In the individual he was 14, in the sprint and finished eleventh in the pursuit he missed fourth barely a medal. Subsequently, he also launched at the European Championships in Forni Avoltri, where he finished ninth in singles and Sprint.
In the next season, he raced in the European Cup and finished good places in Ridnaun, fourth in the sprint and third in the pursuit. The Junior World Championships in Haute Maurienne year did not run particularly well for Windisch. Better ran the European Championships in Minsk, where he finished sixth in singles. In the World Cup of South Tyrol debuted in a relay race in Beitostølen ( 12 ). Getting very good placement at a biathlon World Cup race was a 13th place at the 2007 Chase at Pokljuka for some time. Markus Windisch took part in the 2010 Olympic Winter Games. His best result was the 31st place in the individual. At Home World Cup 2011 in Antholz South Tyrol reached Markus Windisch together with Lukas Hofer, Rene Laurent and Christian De Lorenzi Vuillermoz in the relay 2nd place and for the first time with an Italian Men Season the podium.
