Marlyn Glen

Marlyn Glen (* 1951 in Dundee) is a Scottish politician and member of the Labour Party.

Life

Glen attended the Kirkton High School in Dundee and then studied Pädagokik, Special Education and Psychology at the University of St Andrews, the University of Dundee and the Open University. Afterwards she worked as an English teacher in Liverpool, at the Ravens Park Academy in Irvine and the Baldragon Academy in Dundee.

Political career

1993 Glen was elected to the city council of Dundee. After the resignation of Labour politician and the House of Representatives for the constituency of Dundee East McAllion John Glen was initially intended as a successor for the general election in 2001, but was then replaced by Iain Luke. In the first Scottish Parliament elections in 1999, Glen was placed on the second rank of the Regional Evaluation of the Labour Party for choosing North East Scotland. However, the consequence of the election result, she received none of the seven list mandates and thus failed to reach the newly created Scottish Parliament. For the Scottish Parliament elections in 2003 Glen was set to the first rank of the Regional Evaluation and won for the first time a list of the mandate constituency. In the following parliamentary elections in 2007 she defended her mandate. After Glen announced not to stand on the parliamentary elections in 2011, she retired from the end of the term of the Parliament.
