Marnie Stern

Marnie Stern (born 18 March 1976) is an American musician, composer, guitarist and lives in New York City. It is particularly admired for her guitar playing technique ( tapping).

Career

In early 2007, Marnie Stern on the label Kill Rock Stars their first CD, In Advance of the Broken Arm. It was well received by critics, especially The New York Times, which they described as " The most exciting rock 'n roll album of the year " ( "The year 's most exciting rock' n 'roll album ").

In mid-2007 she toured the United States and the United Kingdom with the band Hella, Zach Hill and The Advantage to promote their debut CD.

In the Spring 2008 issue of Venus magazine Stern was awarded as one of the "Greatest Female Guitarists Of All Time". The Plug Music Awards 2008 she was also nominated as " Female Artist Of The Year " and " Punk Album Of The Year".

Marnie Stern's second album, This Is It and I Am It and You Are It and So Is That and He Is It and She Is It and It Is It and That Is That was released by Kill Rock Stars on October 7, 2008. Immediately after the release, it received the award for " Best New Music" and number 44 of the "50 Best Albums Of 2008 " by Pitchfork Media.

Star has toured Europe and the United States with This Is It, along with Mark Shippy, the former guitarist of U.S. Maple, bassist James Malia and various drummers.

Influences

Star renames many musical influences for their music. Some of these are Hella, Lightning Bolt, Deerhoof, Erase Errata, Don Caballero, U.S. Maple, Royal Trux, Television, Bruce Springsteen, The Who and Talking Heads.
