Marquess of Lansdowne

Marquess of Lansdowne is a hereditary British title of nobility in the Peerage of Great Britain, named after the village of Lansdowne, now considered a district of Lansdown, Bath. It is supported by the family Petty.

Ancestral home of the family is Bowood House in Wiltshire. Earlier, the family also belonged Lansdowne House on Berkeley Square in London.

Award

The title was for William Petty, 2nd Earl of Shelburne created in 1784. This was 1782/83 Minister of the United Kingdom.

The title Earl Wycombe, Viscount Calne and Calstone and Baron Wycombe belong to the Peerage of Great Britain, while all other titles of the peerage of Ireland are assigned.

The title Earl of Shelburne was 1719 once created, but then goes off again after the death of the first Earl.

Since 1818, the title Earl of Kerry and Viscount Clanmaurice be performed as subordinate title, which had previously been worn by an older branch of the family.
