Marsha Hunt (actress)

Marsha Hunt ( born October 17, 1917 in Chicago, Illinois as Marcia Virginia Hunt ) is an American actress.

Life and career

1935 began the career Hunts with the film The Virginia Judge, by the director Edward Sedgwick. On October 27, 1947, the Hunt in Washington DC joined a 30-strong group of directors and actors to ( including John Huston, Humphrey Bogart, Lauren Bacall and Danny Kaye ) to protest against the actions of Congress in connection with the actions of the Committee on Un-American Activities. Back in Hollywood, she was asked by the authorities to confess their Communist activities, they did not want to run the risk of no longer receive any commitment. Hunt refused. She received roles until 1949, when her name on the Red Channel - appeared list. She subsequently appeared in the next 8 years to just three films, having previously worked from 1935 to 1949 in 52 films.

In 1971, she again received a greater role in the film Johnny Got His Gun, whose screenplay by Dalton Trumbo one of the Hollywood Ten came as the mother of Timothy Bottoms.

Since 1980, Marsha Hunt is an honorary mayor of Sherman Oaks, California.
