Martin Fiala

Martin Fiala ( born January 25, 1968 in Czechoslovakia ) is a former German ski racer and active ski crossers.

Life

At the beginning of his athletic career was Martin Fiala, who grew up in the Giant Mountains, the alpine team of students in the former Czechoslovakia on. At 14, his parents fled with him to Germany. He and his family moved to Münster, where he still lives with his partner. He has in the Allgäu another residence.

Career

Fiala drove for the German Ski Association from 1988 until his exit from the Alpine skiing World Cup downhill race in 1995 primarily and in combination. At the 1991 World Championships he reached the 14th place in the combination and the 18th place in the downhill. Two years later he drove to 15th place in the combination and the 20th place in the downhill at the World Championships in 1993.

Between 1998 and 2010 he was an active ski crossers in the ski club SC Obermaiselstein. On 13 January 2010 he succeeded in L' Alpe d' Huez, the standard for the Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver. There he finished in 31st place.

Others

After his participation in the World Cup Skiing Fiala was a research associate of the DSHS Cologne and the German Ski Association. He was actively involved in the work there, the women's team of DSV. From 2003 to 2008 he was press secretary and then vice president of the Bavarian Ski / BSV. He was co-founder of the Internet company XNX GmbH, which was sold in 2008 to the Norwegian Skiinfo group.
