Martin Grüner

Martin Green ( born July 19, 1929 in Stuttgart ) is a German politician ( FDP). He was from 1972 to 1987 Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister of Economics and from 1987 to 1991 the Federal Minister for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety.

Education and work

After graduating from high school in 1949 in Schramberg Green graduated in law in Tübingen and Hamburg, which he finished with the first and 1959 with the second legal state examination. He was then to 1968 eV as General Counsel and Managing Director of the Association of Black Forest clock industry working in Schwenningen. 1961 was admitted to the bar. From 1968 to 1972 Green was chief executive of the Association of the German watch industry.

Party

Since 1950, Green has been a member of the FDP; during the student in Tübingen, he headed the liberal university group. From 1963 to 1967, and from 1969 to 1988 he was a member of the FDP Executive in Baden -Württemberg. Member of the FDP Federal Board he From 1976 until 1990.

From 1964 to 1972 Green was a member of the council of his hometown Schramberg.

He was from 1969 to 1994 Member of the German Bundestag, where from 1969 to 1972 education policy spokesman of the FDP parliamentary group. He was also a member of the social committee and the budget committee of the Bundestag.

Public offices

On December 15, 1972 Green was appointed as Parliamentary Secretary to the Federal Minister of Economics led by Chancellor Willy Brandt federal government. In this office he also belonged to the cabinets of Helmut Schmidt, until he first retired from office after breaking the social-liberal coalition on 17 September 1982.

After the election of Helmut Kohl as Chancellor Green was nominated for economy already on October 4, 1982 again to Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister. From 1974 to 1987 he was also Coordinator of the Federal Government for the German Aerospace. After the general election in 1987, he moved on 12 March 1987 in the same capacity with the Federal Minister for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety. After the parliamentary election in 1990, he retired then on 18 January 1991 from the office, but remained until 1994 Member of the German Bundestag. In the 12th German Bundestag Martin Green was a member of the Finance Committee and chairman of the working group " Finance and Taxation " of the FDP parliamentary group and a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee.

In his capacity as a member of the Enquete Commission " Preventive Measures to Protect the Earth's Atmosphere" of the German Bundestag Martin Green saw a focus of his parliamentary work in the 12th legislative period.
