Martin Jellinghaus

Jellinghaus Martin ( born October 26, 1944 in Lauf an der Pegnitz ) is a former German track and field athlete and Olympic medal winner in the late 1960s and early 1970s was one of the world's best 400-meter runners. His greatest achievement is the bronze medal at the 1968 Olympics in Mexico City with the 4 x 400 - meter relay ( 3:00,5 min, European record, together with Helmar Müller, Gerhard and Manfred Hennige children, as Martin Jellinghaus cage rotor ). In the 400 -meter run this Olympics he finished fifth ( 45.3 s ). In the semifinals, he turned in a time of 44.9 s to a European record of Carl Kaufmann.

1969 candidate of the then student of dentistry on the list of Liberal Students Federation of Germany and the Humanities Student Union for a seat in the student parliament at the University of Erlangen- Nuremberg.

Other successes

Martin Jellinghaus first belonged to the TSV 1860 Munich, from 1971 to SV Bayer Leverkusen. In his playing days, he was 1.86 m tall and weighed 83 kg.

Jellinghaus has three children and five grandchildren.
