Martini & Rossi

Martini & Rossi is an Italian alcohol producers belonging to the Bacardi group since 1993. The company became known especially by the Martini -called wormwood. Another well-known product is the Martini Prosecco. Martini & Rossi now controls the production of French vermouth Noilly Prat of the brand.

History

1863 took over three employees of a wine trading company, the agent Alessandro Martini, the accountant Teofilo Sola and the cellar master and herbalist Luigi Rossi their company and called them - to reflect the new ownership - in martini Sola e Cia order. In the same year they started with the production of vermouth in the small Italian town near Turin Pessione. After the death of Teofilo Sola 1879, the company got the name of Martini & Rossi.

At the end of the 19th century, the Martini brand was world-renowned and represented the company with branches in major trading cities such as Buenos Aires (1884 ), Geneva ( 1886) and Barcelona (1893 ).

With the takeover of the company by the four sons of Luigi Rossi in 1900 also changed the marketing strategy, and soon the company was also known as a great sponsor cultural and sporting activities. This strategy remained the company until today. Especially in cycling and motor sport, the Martini brand was a strong presence for decades.

In 1994, Lorenzo Rossi di Montelera sold the shares of the Martini & Rossi family to Bacardi for 1.4 billion U.S. dollars, which was the merger with one of the world's largest producers of alcoholic beverages.
