Mary Lou McDonald

Mary Lou McDonald ( born May 1, 1969 in Dublin) is an Irish politician and from 2004 to 2009 Member of the European Parliament. Since 2011 she is a Member of the Dáil Éireann, the lower house of the Irish Parliament.

McDonald studied at Trinity College, Dublin, where he received a BA in 1992. In 1993 she received her Masters from the University of Limerick. Subsequently, she was from 1994 to 1995 as a research assistant at the Institute of European Affairs in Dublin, between 1995 and 1998 at Dublin City University and from 1998 to 2000 as a consultant on Irish Productivity Centre.

Before McDonald 2002, Sinn Féin coordinator for political strategy, it was between 2000 and 2002 instructor at the Foundation for Education and Training. 2004 McDonald was elected in the constituency of Dublin Sinn Féin in the European Parliament gave its post as coordinator. There, McDonald was a member of the Executive Board of the Group of the European United Left / Nordic Green Left. In the next European elections in 2009, it was not re-elected and thus retired from the European Parliament. Since 2001 she is a member of the Executive Board ( Irish: Árd Chomhairle ) of Sinn Féin. In 2009, she broke Pat Doherty from as vice chairman of the party.

In the elections of 31 Dáil Éireann in February 2011, she was elected in the constituency of Dublin Central.

McDonald is married and has two children.
