Matanuska Glacier

The Matanuska Glacier is a 39 km long, at its end, six km wide glacier in southern Alaska on the north flank of the Chugach Mountains, north of Mount Marcus Baker. Its western edge is formed by the Mount Wickersham. The melt water from the glacier flows with the Matanuska River in the Cook Inlet.

Over the past 400 years, he has lost little in size, but gave earlier to the area of present-day, 90 km westerly Palmer. The glacier tongue was enough to near the Glenn Highway. In the last 13 years he has been, however, very strongly melted so that it no longer comes up approach to Highway today.
