Matarraña/Matarranya

Matarraña ( katalan. Matarranya ) is a Comarca (administrative unit ) of the Aragon Autonomous Community in Spain. It lies in the east of the province of Teruel and has an area of 933 km ² 8,682 inhabitants. Its capital is Valderrobres, the largest of the 18 municipalities of the comarca. The Comarca is named after the eponymous river, which flows through it.

The Comarca is bordered to the west by the comarca of Bajo Aragón, in the north of Bajo Aragón - Caspe, to the east by the province of Tarragona ( comarques Terra Alta, Baix Ebre and Montsiā ) and on the south by the province of Castellón ( comarques Baix Maestrat and Els Ports ). By 2003, Bajo Aragón and Bajo Aragón - Caspe were parts of Matarraña.
