Matt Groening
Matthew Abram Groening [ greɪnɪŋ ] (* February 15, 1954 in Portland, Oregon) is the inventor of the cartoon series The Simpsons and Futurama, and the comic Life in Hell.
Life
Even in high school Groening was a very good student, so he enrolled after the end of its financial statements at the Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington. In the early 1980s, Matt Groening worked as a music journalist, where he published mainly reviews of reggae albums. He was a business partner of CC Smith, the co-founder of the magazine beat.
Groening is a member of American rock band Rock Bottom Remainders, which is recruited from well-known writers and cartoonists. For the band include Dave Barry, Scott Turow and Stephen King.
Before Groening worked for television, he created the comic series Life in Hell (Life in Hell ), to be printed until today in some 250 newspapers. This James L. Brooks noticed him. He offered Groening in 1985, something to draw on the Tracey Ullman Show. Already in the building while he was waiting for the interview, Groening learned that he had something new and unusual to prepare. So he drew in 15 minutes, the figures for the series. Here, the idea to him to have come that Homer works in a nuclear power plant. First 30-60 seconds long short films of the Simpsons were aired from 1988 in the Tracey Ullman Show. This met with such a great response that 20th Century Fox and the film company Gracie Films gave the production and broadcast a 30-minute broadcast in order. On 17 December 1989, the first episode of the series ran at the U.S. TV channel Fox. Groening's most famous work alongside the Simpsons is the comic series Futurama.
Matt Groening is agnostic claims to be. A well-known quote from Groening is also: "When asked ' Is there a God? ' 'If there is, all evidence indicates he did hates me. ' " ( German: "If I am asked: 'Is there a God? ' If there is a God, speak all signs that he hates me. ' ").
Groening's father, Homer Philip Groening is German and his mother, Margaret Ruth ( née Wiggum ) Norwegian descent. He used his own family ( he claims to have felt on that day not very creative ) For the name of the Simpson family.

The last name of the Springfield Police Chief Clancy Wiggum is the birth name of Groening's mother.
His own name was not used for the Simpsons characters Groening, so he decided to beard. This name is an anagram of Brat, English for brat, brat. By nature Bart is based on Groening's nephew. The Simpsons Groening has won numerous awards, including an Emmy.
From the Simpsons, there are also two very successful comic series: the normal Simpsons Comics and Bart Simpson comic series.
Matt Groening created the Simpsons one of the most successful animated series. With over 500 episodes produced in more than 20 years, the series is also the longest-running U.S. animated series at all.
Groening's style is characterized by the fact that all his characters bulging eyes and an overbite own.
On 14 February 2012 Matt Groening was the occasion of the broadcast of the 500th Simpsons episode with a star on the Walk of Fame award. The star is located in the vicinity of that, already in 2000, got the Simpsons.
