Matt Helders

Matthew Helders ( born May 7, 1986 in Sheffield ) is the drummer for the British indie rock band Arctic Monkeys and currently plays on the drums for Mongrel. He also takes care of the background vocals for most songs.

The Arctic Monkeys

In an interview Helders confessed that the drums was the only instrument that was left. Since each of them already had guitars, he bought a drum kit. As influences he called rap music, especially during their time at school liked listening to the members and especially Queens of the Stone Age as the main influence on his drumming. He also mentioned a reason why they sing their songs, especially in her Yorkshire accent. " There is something strange over when you talk between songs in his normal English accent and then during the song sings as if you come from California. " Due to multiple photos and videos is known that Helders can also play guitar.

Unlike other members of the band, he has chosen to continue to live in his home town of Sheffield. The more he would he would come around, the more like Sheffield. He also indicates that Sheffield is still used as inspiration for many of their texts. Furthermore Helders told that, if he is traveling alone hardly ever occurs to him to be recognized. That would only happen to him if he would go along with the other band members. He also says that he and guitarist Jamie Cook would never move to London.

Outside the Arctic Monkeys

Outside the Arctic Monkeys to Helders busy with remixes of songs such as the fourth single from the band The Hives " We Rule the World ( THEHIVES ) " and plays such as the new album by the band The Prodigy on the drums. He also occasionally works together with the American band We Are Scientists, and has so done it on a B- side of their single " Chick Lit".

In August 2008, Helders has a compilation CD of "Late Night Tale Remix Series " with the name "Late Night Tales: Matt Helders " brought out, which also includes a spoken contribution of his band mates Alex Turner.

Fashion collection

In May 2007, Helders has published his own collection for the model Abel "Supreme Being", which includes a jacket, a hoody and three T -shirts. When adding the clothes were given a CD with remixes of various songs from the Arctic Monkeys by Matt Helders. A pound should it go to the " Arthur Rank Hospice ."
