Matt Thornhill
Matt Thornhill ( born October 11, 1988 in Nottingham ) is an English footballer, who was most recently at Hibernian under contract.
Career
Matt Thornhill started his career in 2007 at Nottingham Forest. The midfielder was on 14 August 2007 at the League Cup match against Chester City made his professional debut when he came off the bench in 71 minutes of Felix Bastian. Four days later, he completed his first game in the Football League One, when he was a substitute in a goalless draw against Swansea City for Kris Commons. 12 January 2008 Thornhill scored in the home game against Leyton Orient his first goal for Forest. He scored the 4-0 final score for Forest, before two-goal Grant Holt and Kris Commons were successful.
After the 2007/ 08 season he managed with Forest promotion to the Football League Championship. The 2008/09 season began with a 2-1 defeat at Preston North End. The midfielder ran again as a substitute on the field, he ran 80 minutes as a substitute for Lee Martin set the playing field. In his second in the Championship he was first banished to the bench in the home game against Charlton Athletic in his pro career of the field. His first goal is scored in the second division, he was able to record in the away game at Crystal Palace on 28 October 2008. His results led to the 1:2 winning goal for Forest.
By the end of the season he completed 24 league games for Forest, scoring three goals. As part of the transfer of business from Joel Lynch between Nottingham Forest and Brighton & Hove Albion in July 2009, he moved on loan to the Seagulls. Thornhill was used in Brighton total in seven games in League One, and once each in the League Cup and the FA Trophy, after the dismissal of manager Russell Slade in early November 2009, he was no longer considered by his successor Gustavo Poyet and returned prematurely Forest.
He was not used and awarded in January 2010 to Cheltenham Town. When the Robins he scored in his second competitive match against Barnet FC 's first goal. A week later he met in the 2-0 victory over Morecambe FC again. At the end of the loan period the midfielder returned in summer 2010 again returned to Nottingham Forest.
On January 21, 2011 Matt Thornhill joined the Scottish first division club Hibernian. In January of the following year the contract was terminated.
