Matthew Mbuta

Andongcho " Matthew" Mbuta ( born December 21, 1985 in Yaoundé ) is a Cameroonian football player at the position of an attacking midfielder and striker. He currently plays for Crystal Palace Baltimore in the second division in the North American Soccer, the USSF D2 Pro League.

Career

Club career

Mbuta began his active career as a professional football player in 2004 in his native Cameroon at PWD Bamenda in Cameroon de Première Division. There, he scored twelve goals in his first season in 20 completed games and was the third-best player in the league. With the team, he qualified for the CAF Cup, where he scored five goals in four games and the team so fired up to the quarter-finals.

In 2006 he moved to Brunei Brunei DPMM FC who has his game operating in the Malaysia Super League. The team from Brunei, he played mostly as a center forward, but also came as a midfielder or as a second striker for use. Because of its consistently good performance in Malaysia he came to trial in England. There he trained with the professional teams of the two Premier League clubs West Ham United and Arsenal, but received none of the lucrative contracts. After only eight games and a balance of three hits he left the team to switch to the United States to Crystal Palace Baltimore in the third-class USL Second Division. In his first season with the club from Baltimore, he was elected with five goals and seven assists in 16 championship matches completed the USL -2 All- League First Team. In the following season he was "only" more chosen with two goals and an equal number of assists in 16 games in the USL -2 All- League Second Team. Through his outstanding achievements in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup in 2008, in which he, the New York Red Bulls 2-0 defeated with the team in the 3rd round and was defeated revolution in the quarter-finals after penalty shootout of New England, he could interested in some clubs from major League Soccer for themselves.

After a total of 33 games and seven goals and a trial with New York Red Bulls Mbuta was taken on September 15, 2008 by this contract. His debut in the MLS he was in the 26th round of the season in a 5-4 loss to the Colorado Rapids. In this game, he scored his first and only goal for the Red Bulls. The last few rounds of the 2008 season different from Mbuta due to injuries to the quadriceps on the game operation. To date, the Cameroonian came to three division operations as well as a gate. Even during the 2009 season, he played on loan for the Richmond Kickers in the USL Second Division third class, where he came to use one. In the last game of the 2009 season he scored his second goal for the Red Bulls. On 12 February, he was released by New Yorkers and plays since 2 March 2010 for Crystal Palace Baltimore.

Internationally

Mbuta already gained experience in the U-23 selection of Cameroon, for whom he played from 2007 to 2008. His first try for a Cameroonian youth team he made already in 2000.
