Matthias Groote

Matthias Groote, ( born October 21, 1973 in Leer, Ostfriesland ) is a German politician ( SPD). Since 2005 he is a member of the European Parliament.

Life and career

Post-high school in 1990 at the district school in Westrhauderfehn Groote was initially a freelancer in the editorial office of the Fehntjer courier. He then completed from 1991 to 1995 trained as an industrial mechanic in repair shop Opladen Deutsche Bahn. He then made ​​up to 1996 from the civil service and then passed through to 1998 and additional training to mechanical technician with a focus on operation and maintenance. After the completion of training Groote began studying at the Fachhochschule Wilhelmshaven, which he finished in 2005 as an industrial engineer ( FH). Until his admission to the European Parliament, he worked as a sales engineer at Enercon.

Matthias Groote is married and has two daughters.

Party

Groote joined the SPD in 1996 and first became involved increasingly in the Young Socialists, whose leader he was in the district of Leer 1997-2002; 1999 to 2002 he was also deputy chairman of the Young Socialists and District Association Weser- Ems. From 1997 to 2007 he was a member of the board of the SPD district association idle and is a member of the SPD district board Weser -Ems since 2007. Member of Parliament

Groote belongs since 1996 to the council of his hometown Ostrhauderfehn where he was from 2001 to 2005 and chairman of the SPD parliamentary group. From 2001 to 2006 he was also a member of the county council of the county Empty.

On 26 October 2005 Groote moved for the retired deputies Garrelt Duin according to the European parliament and was re-elected in the 2009 European elections.
