Maurer Söhne

The Maurer Söhne GmbH & Co. KG is a company of steel, machine and plant construction. It was founded in Munich in 1876, where even today is the parent company. In addition, there is a branch in Lünen / Westphalia and a branch factory in Berne near Dresden. In China, India and Turkey, the company has its own production facilities.

A total of 900 staff are employed who have realized a turnover of € 150 million in 2011. Maurer Söhne is now active in the three areas of structural protection systems, steel construction and special engineering.

Structural Protection System

Here expansion joints and bridge bearings are made. In 2012 finished Russky Bridge over the Eastern Bosphorus Strait in Vladivostok, Russia installed Maurer Söhne swivel joist with a movement of up to 2,400 mm, diaphragm and horizontal force storage of up to 34,000 kN applied load, semi-active cable dampers with 1,100 mm stroke and hydraulic dampers with 3,000 kN overload protection.

With moving building products, the company is the world market leader. It inter alia be produced for bridges and steel chimneys seismic devices and shock absorber.

The blackest day experienced Maurer Söhne on 11 April 1996, as a subcontractor caused a major fire in repairing an expansion joint at Düsseldorf Airport. In the fire accident 17 people died and 88 were injured. Terminals A and B were almost completely destroyed, the terminal C was pulled by fumes affected.

Steel construction

In this area, steel buildings, steel bridges and steel chimneys can be realized. The BMW Welt in Munich, among others, Maurer Söhne and the architectural firm Coop Himmelb (l) au realized.

Special machine

The company part Amusement Rides established by the manufacturer Schwarzkopf in 1993 and provides rides forth for use in amusement parks and carnivals. Mainly roller coasters like the Wild Mouse and the Spinning Coaster are produced. The manufacturer Vertical rides are common.

With the Sky Wheel the first plant was inaugurated by the new type " X-Car " in 2004. Other tracks of type ( eg Abismo ) followed, as well as the award for " Best New Product" of the IAAPA. Other rides of the type X-Car can be found in Drayton Manor in Staffordshire, England as G -Force and in Hot Springs, Arkansas, as a further Sky Loop named X -Coaster. Also at Universal Studios Florida in 2009 following a "Customer - Designed" path with the name Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit.
