Maurice Baudoux

Maurice Baudoux OC ( * July 10, 1902 in La Louviere, Belgium, † 1 July 1988) was a Canadian clergyman of the Roman Catholic Church and Archbishop of Saint -Boniface.

Life

Maurice Baudoux came the age of nine to Canada, studied theology at Laval University and received on 17 July 1929, the ordination. Pope Pius XII. ordered it on 7 August 1948 to the first bishop of Saint Paul in Alberta. He received his episcopal consecration, the Apostolic Delegate to Canada, Ildebrando Antoniutti, on 28 October of the same year; Co-consecrators were Henri -Jean- Mary Prud'homme, Bishop Emeritus of Prince -Albert, and Philip Francis Pocock, Bishop of Saskatoon. On 4 March 1952 he was appointed Coadjutor Bishop of Saint -Boniface and simultaneously appointed Titular Archbishop of Preslavus. After the death of Arthur Béliveau he followed him on 14 September 1955, after the Archbishop of Saint -Boniface. He attended all four sessions of the Second Vatican Council.
