Mauro Facci

Mauro Facci ( born May 11, 1982 in Vicenza ) is an Italian former racing cyclist.

Career

Mauro Facci began his professional career in 2003 with the Italian cycling team Fassa Bortolo, after he had gone there last year as a stagiaire. Previously, he had been, among other Italian vice-champion of the juniors. His first professional victory he missed in 2003 just at the Giro del Trentino second in the third stage, when he was beaten in the sprint of a breakaway group only by Elio Aggiano. A first victory he celebrated in 2005 at the Settimana Internazionale when he was successful with his team in the team time trial. In the overall standings of the race, he finished second. In the same year he first participated in the Tour de France and finished his first major tour of the country on the 144th place overall.

After the end of Fassa Bortolo Facci drove 2006 for the Professional Continental team Barloworld. In the Classic Haribo in Marseille, he reached his only podium finish in third place for the team. In the following season Facci was committed by the Belgian ProTeam Quick Step. There he was able to attend his first Giro d' Italia. On a strong 34th place he reached the finish in Milan. His first personal professional victory he missed in the same year at the Tour de la Région Wallonne again just barely. Rémi Pauriol had defeated him in the sprint of the two outliers.

In 2008 Facci was the Giro d'Italia at the start. Again he was able to achieve the goal, this time as 115 and was nominated for the Tour de France, where he however had to get off after the sixth stage. When GP Briek Scot he managed in 2008 and his first and only personal victory as a professional cyclist. A year later, he reached the Giro d' Italia, which he signed as 108, on the 15th stage in seventh his first top ten place in a large tour of the country.

In 2010, again denied Facci the Giro. The goal in Verona as he reached 121 and was able to finish all four of his Italy tours. End of the 2010 season, he finished his career as a professional cyclist at the age of only 29 years.
