The Maybach 57, Maybach 57 S and Maybach 62, Maybach 62 S were the only serial models of the automobile brand Maybach, since DaimlerChrysler AG had (now Daimler AG) launched this brand again in 2002 for the most luxurious and most expensive sedans of the Group launched. The type designations refer to the vehicle length in decimeters (about 5.70 m and 6.20 m).
On 17 December 2012, the last model was mounted. Originally, the production should be continued until 2013, but this was not due to the ever decreasing demand.

History
Through the acquisition of Rolls- Royce by BMW and Bentley by Volkswagen, DaimlerChrysler feared, in the niche of large luxury sedans with the restriction to the clearly defined brand Mercedes -Benz to the outside must stay ahead. The establishment of a new, higher-lying and exclusive private label seemed to be the best way, and so it was decided to revive the tradition- prone brand name Maybach. On this basis and with respect to the optimistic forecasts for the development of user-friendly by the vehicle market, you made the decision to design and build a vehicle that should be clearly positioned above the in-house S- class.
However, market forecasts were too high. The bursting of the dotcom bubble and the resulting lost amounts of liquidity significantly reduced the target group. Also, new competition in the form of the Bentley Continental Flying Spur, which offered an established brand label for less than half the price of a Maybach, pulled off potential buyers. The biggest problem for the sales turned out, however, the design of the vehicle. While well-meaning commentators spoke of subtle lines, were other critics merciless in their verdict: " inflated Mercedes -Benz S-Class " From a was often mentioned, and clearly was 57 and 62 pointed to the lack of independence of the models.
Of the 300000-500000 € expensive models only half as many vehicles were sold as planned until 2005. 2004 Maybach approximately 500 have been sold worldwide, 41 of them in Germany. Models
Between June 2002 and June 2012, the sedan was produced in the Maybach Manufaktur in Sindelfingen. The internal name of Daimler AG for the short sedan ( all models ) is W 240, for the long version is 240 V, so use type names from Mercedes -Benz. The chassis has been adapted from the Mercedes -Benz 140 series (S- Class of 1991 ), the electronic platform comes from the Mercedes -Benz 220 series ( S-Class of 1998).
Maybach 57 S
On the occasion of the 75th International Geneva Motor Show in March 2005, the Maybach 57 S was presented (S for special ). He has a firmer suspension; visually, it differs by a modified radiator grille, 20 -inch wheels, stainless steel panels on the exhaust and carbon look in the interior. The engine has the S model about 6 instead of 5.5 liters, the power was at a maximum. Maybach Zeppelin
As of early 2009, Daimler offered to Maybach Zeppelin - a style of the same top models of the 1930s. Maybach Landaulet

Maybach Guard
