Mecklenburg Switzerland and Lake Kummerow Nature Park

The Natural Park of Mecklenburg Switzerland and Lake Kummerow is in the north of the lake district in the counties of Mecklenburg Lakes and Rostock in Mecklenburg- Vorpommern between cities Dargun, Demmin, Teterow, Malchin and Waren (Müritz). It was founded in 1997. The total area of the nature park is located at 673 km ². 19 percent of this area is covered by forest, about 10 percent are lakes and rivers, the remaining area is cultivated landscape. In the natural park there are three large lakes: Lake Malchiner, the Lake Kummerow and Teterower lake. The Peene is the largest river in the nature park. Particularly impressive are the great lakes, the river scenery, the centuries- old oak trees, castles, manor houses and their rural parks. The nature park is known as the resting area of northern ducks. He is good on the A19, connecting points Krakow am See and Güstrow, or via the A20 to reach connection points Ticino and jellied bathroom. The headquarters of the park administration is in Basedow.
