The University " Mediterranea " of Reggio Calabria (Italian: Università degli Studi Mediterranea di Reggio Calabria) UNIRC short - is a state university in the city of Reggio Calabria ( Calabria ), with approximately 10,000 students and nearly 900 scientific employees.

History

The University of Reggio Calabria was founded on 17 June 1968 as the Libero Istituto Universitario di Architettura then with 81 architecture students and is since 1982 a recognized university. 1970, the lion's head of an ancient Coin was chosen as the symbol for the University of Reggio Calabria.
