Meelis Kanep

Meelis Kanep ( born May 27, 1983 in Võru ) is an Estonian chess player.

In Estonian individual championships, he finished in a tie for third Pühajärv 2001, 2002 Kilingi - Nõmme the sole third place in 2003 to second place in Tallinn. 2004, 2005 and 2007, respectively in Tallinn, he won the Estonian Championship. 2009 in Rakvere, he was again divided by third parties. In chess, he finished in the Estonian Championship 2001 second place, the Estonian chess championship 2003, he won as well as in the same year, the Estonian Youth Championship. He won the Paul Keres Memorial in Tallinn in September 2005.

For the national team of Estonia 's play he participated in four Chess Olympiads (2002, 2004, 2006 and 2008 ) and two European team championships (2003 and 2005). Chess club he plays except in Estonia ( for Viljandi Maleseltsi ) in Finland (on the first board of EtVaS from Vantaa ). With EtVaS he was in season 2008/ 09 Finnish team champion.

In November 2002 he received the title of International Master. Since June 2006 he is the Grand Master. The standards for this he achieved in the 2002 Chess Olympiad in Bled, at the 73rd Estonian Individual Championship 2005 in Tallinn and in the same year at the Paul Keres Memorial in the Estonian capital. In April 2008, he served most recently with his highest ever Elo rating of 2535 at the Estonian Elo ranking.
