In the 37th Chess Olympiad in Turin in 2006 148 teams ( including Italy Italy B and C) were playing in the open group. Below is the final result is a listed as a complete progression table. All teams were launched in 2006 in the Olympic Village (Turin ), with the highest standards of the IOC. The Olympic village also housed the press, catering, medical care and FIDE, in short, the world chess center. In the first three places, the teams came from Armenia (36 board points), China ( 34) and the United States (33).

Olympic Champion Armenia played with Levon Aronian (7 points from 11 games ), Vladimir Akopian ( 9 from 12 ), Karen Asrian (5 of 10) Smbat Lputian (2 ½ 3 ), Gabriel Sargissian (10 from 13) and Artashes Minasian (2 ½ from 3).

The German men were ranked number 15 and played with Arkady Naiditsch (6 of 10), Artur Yusupov ( 3 of 8 ), Jan Gustafsson ( 6 ½ out of 10 ), Thomas Luther ( 6 ½ out of 9 ), Christopher Lutz ( 3 ½ out of 7) and Alexander Graf ( 5 ½ out of 8).

Teams of women

For women, the Ukraine won ( 29.5 board points), followed by Russia (28 ) and China ( 27.5 ).

Ukraine joined with Natalia Zhukova ( 7 ½ points from 10 games), Kateryna Lhano ( 8 out of 10, Silver Medal ), Inna Yanovska - Gaponenko (7 of 9, Silver Medal ) and Anna Ushenina (7 of 10).

The German women were ranked number 11 and played with Elisabeth Pähtz (8 of 12) Ketino Kachiani - Gersinska ( 8 ½ out of 12 ), Jessica Nill ( 1 of 5) and Vera Jürgens ( 6 of 10).

The Chess Olympiad is a team tournament. 13 rounds were played according to the Swiss System in Turin. In the Swiss system each evaluation teams are equal among themselves drawn. Each team (Team ) was per team fight use four players. The team competition four single points (board points) will be awarded, which are given in the following table of the 13 laps under the code of the opponent team. The code is a short code for the teams. The result of a team match, the team points (win = 2, draw = 1, loss = 0). In addition, the numbers of recovered, indecisive and lost battles are listed ( = -).
