Kateryna Lahno

Kateryna Olexandriwna Lahno (Ukrainian Катерина Олександрівна Лагно, scientific transliteration Kateryna Oleksandrivna Lahno, the World Chess Federation FIDE Kateryna Lagno; * December 27, 1989 in Lviv ) is a Ukrainian chess player.

Life

Kateryna learned chess at age 4. At 8, she was in Oropesa del Mar U10 Girls World Champion, with 9 years of Candidate Master. In 2001, she achieved a draw in blitz chess against two-time Vice World Champion Viktor Korchnoi.

On 29 April 2002, at the age of 12 years, 4 months and 2 days, she became the youngest ever woman grandmaster. Less than a year later, she became International Champion; 2003, a grandmaster tournament in Kramatorsk She made her first Grandmaster norm of Lords. The second GM norm, it reached in July 2005 when she won the Women's Championship in Chisinau and thus became the youngest ever European Champion. End of July 2006, it achieved the third GM norm by their tournament victory at the North Urals Cup, a very strong field in women's chess tournament Krasnoturjinsk. The GM title was conferred only a year late in June 2007. National

The Ukrainian women's team took from 2004 to 2012 at five Chess Olympiads. In Turin in 2006, she won the gold medal with the team and for their result at board 2 a silver medal. From 2005 to 2013 Lahno participated in five European Team Championships for women and was European champion 2013 team. In addition, Kateryna Lahno won in 2013 with Ukraine team Women's World Cup, they belonged in this tournament in 2007 for the Ukrainian selection.

Chess club

In the chess Bundesliga Lahno played from 2010 to 2012 for the sports fans Katernberg. In France she played in the top division, the top 16 in the 2009/10 season for Association Cannes Echecs. At the European Club Cup for women Kateryna Lahno participated ten times and won the 2009 competition with Spartak Vidnoye and 2011 AVS Krasnoturjinsk.
