Mehmet Çoğum
Mehmet Cogum ( born February 5, 1983 in İskenderun ) is a Turkish footballer who plays for Karşıyaka SK.
Career
Club career
Cogum began his football career at İskenderun Esenspor. In February 1999, he was nominated here for the Turkish U-15 national youth team and then played in the national players play in front of a larger number of talent hunters. He fell to the Scouts of Çanakkale Dardanelspor. A short time later, he wrote with Dardanelspor a professional contract. He played two years almost exclusively for the youth and reserve team. After the winter break 2000/ 01 he took part in the training camps of the pros and was subsequently involved in the professional squad. His debut as a professional he made on 19 November 2000 league game against Sakaryaspor. By then end of the season, he made nine league games. In the new season, he then finally made the breakthrough.
After he worked for five years at Dardanelspor, he moved to the Süper Lig club Gaziantepspor. Here he established himself as a regular player equal and held this position two and a half seasons long. Over the 2007/08 season he lost his place, but was occasionally used as a substitute.
In the summer of 2008, he then moved on to league rivals Konyaspor. Here he played consistently as starting player, but left the club after his descent into the TFF 1 Lig He transferred to the new season for the first division Denizlispor. With his new team him relegation again failed.
So he left his club again and agreed with the newly promoted Karabükspor.
Here he failed the jump into the starting lineup, so he moved to the second round within the league to MKE Ankaragucu. In the first weeks of the 2011/12 season his club ran into financial difficulties and was over a long time do not pay the players' salaries. So they parted many players. Cogum held as one of the few professionals to club loyalty and led the club by the relegation battle.
For the 2013/14 season Cogum moved to second division TKI Tavşanlı Linyitspor. He came here in the first round only twice used, he moved to the winter break in the league Karşıyaka SK.
National team career
Cogum began early on to play for the Turkish youth national teams. He went through from the U-15, U- 16, U -17, U-19, U-20 and U-21 youth teams.
