Meiji University

The Meiji University (Japanese明治 大学, Meiji daigaku, in short: Meidai (明 大)) is one of the most prestigious private universities in Japan. She has three locations: the Surugadai campus in Chiyoda, the Izumi Campus in Suginami, and the Ikuta Campus in Kawasaki ( Kanagawa ).

The school was in the Meiji period was established in 1881 by the scholar Tatsuo Kishimoto, explaining in 1903 to a full-fledged university. Large parts of the campus were destroyed during the bombing of Tokyo in World War II.

Meiji's film academy is especially famous and is one of the directors Takeshi Kitano and Kihachi Okamoto and actor Ken Takakura to their graduates. Some famous politicians such as the former Prime Minister Takeo Miki and Tomiichi Murayama are also former students of Meiji.
