Melchsee

The Melchsee is a mountain lake and namesake of the small ski resort of Melchsee -Frutt in the canton of Obwalden in the municipality of Kerns. It is located at 1891 m above sea level. M. and is dammed by an artificial dam. The power plant Hugschwendi that of the electric company Obwalden ( EWO ) is operated, produces electricity.

Many fishermen in the summer try their luck at catching trout and char. In winter is offered on the frozen lake ice fishing. A rope tow pulls the winter sports enthusiasts across the lake to the ski lifts on the other side.
