Melek Hu

Hu Melek ( born January 27, 1989 in Liaoning (China) ) is a Chinese-born Turkish table tennis player. Melek Hu plays since the beginning of 2007 at Fenerbahçe SK table tennis and has since the end of 2007, the Turkish citizenship. It was 2012 European Champion in Mixed.

Achievements

In Nantes, she qualified for the Olympic Summer Games in 2008. Along with her also ethnic Chinese compatriot Zeng Cem she was the first female table tennis player, who took part in the Olympic Games for Turkey. There she dropped out after two wins in round three against the Japanese Ai Fukuhara from. At the 2008 European Championships, she lost in the quarterfinals against the later silver medalist Liu Jia of Austria. At the European Championships in 2010 they only lost in the semifinals of the later title holder Wiktoryja Paulitch 4-2 and thus won the bronze medal. In 2012 she became European Champion in Mixed together with Marko Jevtović.
