Menthonnex -sous -Clermont is a town in the French department of Haute- Savoie department in the Rhône-Alpes region.

Geography

Menthonnex -sous -Clermont is located at 545 m above sea level. M., approximately 16 km west-northwest of the city of Annecy ( straight line ). The village stretches a scenic location on a sloping hillside above the valley to the south of the Morge, between the heights of Montagne des Princes in the west and Cret de Charmont in the East, the Genevois.

The area of ​​10.14 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the western Genevois. The area occupied by undulating relief of the hill between the valleys of Fier in the south and in the north Usses. History

Menthonnex -sous -Clermont is first documented in the early 15th century.

Attractions

The village church of Menthonnex -sous -Clermont was built in the style of classicism. In Mionnaz is a former castle, now used as a farm. Ruins of a former castle there are also at Foraz.

Population

With 640 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Menthonnex -sous -Clermont is one of the small towns in the Haute-Savoie region. During the 19th and 20th centuries, the population steadily increased due to high levels of emigration from (1861 were still 931 residents counted in Menthonnex -sous -Clermont ).
