Band History

Mercenary began in the early 1990s as a four -man project. After Mercenary produced the first two albums ( First Breath and Everblack ) with the Danish label Serious Entertainment, they could sign a contract with Century Media for the third and most successful album 11 Dreams.

After songwriter and bassist Kral himself had sung all the songs on the first breath and this was shown to be strenuous, you could win the brothers Mikkel and Morten Sandager for album Everblack.

Due to the appearance on the " Prog Power Festival" Mercenary could significantly increase its visibility in the United States. Also guitarist Signar Petersen left the band for personal reasons. As a replacement for Rasmus Jacobsen came Mike Park, the Kral had known since 1993. At a concert in Copenhagen then they planned to work together. Also Martin Buus Pedersen was known for some time Kral. He got to know him as a 17 -year-olds at the auditions in a music store where he worked, to know. He asked for his phone number and was able to win it three years later for the band.

The third album 11 Dreams was internationally recognized and after a few pan-European support appearances by Evergrey and Mercenary solo performances toured in the spring of 2005 with " At Vance " as the support of Brainstorm, who contested their first headlining tour.

In the Danish Metal Awards, the album was named " Album of the Year ".

When Sägfestival Mercenary played for the first time with the new bassist and vocalist René Pedersen. In addition, Soul Decision, a song of the new album, played live for the first time.

On 11 November 2009 the separation of Mike Park ( drums), Mikkel ( clean vocals ) and Morten was given (keyboards, vocals ) Sandager known. The reason for the separation of musical differences were specified. Despite the separation, a new album in early 2010 and a tour have been announced.
